Join Lobstick Tour Hosts Dianne and Colin Markusson for a step back in time to the historical days of the Klondike Gold Rush. Dip in Laird Hot Springs, step through the Saloon doors at Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall, ride on a sternwheeler, take part in a Salmon Bake and enjoy the scenery…

There will be 22 hours of sunshine on the day we visit Anchorage Alaska (and 2 hours of sunrise/sunset). Dip your toe in the Gulf of Alaska. Cross the Hecate Strait on a BC Ferry to experience Haida Gwaii, the Galapagos of the North. Miles of Sandy beaches, fishing villages, rain forests, and shopping. Back to the mainland to continue our comfortable coach ride through the most beautiful scenery this world has to offer.

 ITINERARY

Majestic scenery combined with fascinating history… The Alaska landscape is as wild as it is beautiful. Its impressive mountains, breathtaking scenery, and amazing wildlife. A broad land larger than life. Get a closer look at the Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline. Cruise aboard a sternwheeler riverboat in Fairbanks. In the Yukon visit Whitehorse and Dawson City. Step back in time where the first gold strike was made, and learn how gold changed this land forever. In Haida Gwaii with its shores bathed in warm, nutrient rich waters and often referred to as the Canadian Galapagos. The Haida First Nations People developed one of the world's most powerful and creative aboriginal cultures. Enjoy the pristine beauty, rich sports fishing areas, unique culture, endless hiking trails, magnificent beaches and exceptional birdwatching opportunities. Pick up some art from world renowned artists.

Day 1 Jun 4 SASKATCHEWAN – ST ALBERT AB Join our tour from Prince Albert, Saskatoon, North Battleford, Lloydminster, Vegreville or Edmonton. Overnight St Albert. 

Day 2 Jun 5 ST ALBERT – DAWSON CREEK BC B Travel through Whitecourt, Valley view, pose at famous “MILEPOST 0”, the official start of the Alaska Highway. Building of the highway took 30,000 Americans and Canadians. Learn how this 2,288km road was built in just 9 months and how it impacted the communities along its route. Overnight Fort St John.

 Day 3 Jun 6 FORT ST JOHN – FORT NELSON BC B Pass breathtaking landscapes along the highway through the Rockies, past Pink Mountain and Prophet River Valley to Fort Nelson’s Visitor Center. The unique space for local artists and artisans to display their work or pick up one of the many other fun souvenir items. Overnight Fort Nelson

Day 4 Jun 7 FORT NELSON – WATSON LAKE YT B L Traverse Stone Mountain Provincial Park, Sumit Lake Pass & Muncho Pass. View Muncho Lake. Enjoy picnic lunch, relax and swim in Laird Hot Springs pool; then head to Watson Lake, Gateway to the Yukon. Visit Sign Post Forest, one of the most famous of the landmarks along the Alaska Highway. It was started by a homesick GI in 1942. Enjoy the unique Northern Lights Centre boasts state of the art panoramic video, with interactive displays that explain the science and folklore of the Aurora Borealis. Canadian rocket technology played an important part in early Northern Lights research. Overnight Watson Lake.  

Day 5 Jun 8 WATSON LAKE – WHITEHORSE YT B Journey through the Cassiar Mountains and Big Salmon Range. Pass Teslin. Tour the SS Klondike Sternwheeler which greets visitors as they enter Whitehorse. It represents an age when the city served a major function hauling cargo as well as passengers. This evening enjoy the “Frantic Follies” goldrush themed vaudeville performances on stage. Overnight Whitehorse

Day 6 Jun 9 WHITEHORSE – DAWSON CITY YT B L Head north on the Klondike Highway. Through Carmacks, once notable for Yukon river steamers headed to Dawson City.  Stop for a picnic lunch at Pelly Crossing. Arrive in Dawson City, the heart of the Klondike. The city appears similar to boom town of 1890’s: clapboard buildings, boardwalk and gravel streets. No trip is complete without capturing a photograph of yourself atop the Midnight Dome. Follow the winding road to the incredible vantage point and take in the panoramic view of the region. Overnight Dawson City. 

Day 7 Jun 10 DAWSON CITY B FREE AFTERNOON Relive the excitement of the gold rush with your guided city tour. Tour of Dawson City & Gold Fields and a visit to Dredge Historical Site. Take in the walking tour that compares Dawson then (1898) & now. Trek through back alleys, historic buildings and see Dawson City the way locals do… and did. Hear incredible tales about the people that roamed the streets during the Gold Rush. Enjoy the entertainment at Diamond Tooth Gerties Hall, it is reminiscent of the area's Klondike Gold Rush history. Overnight Dawson City. 

Day 8 Jun 11 DAWSON CITY – FAIRBANKS AK B Cross the ferry at Dawson City to Little Gold Alaskan border. Drive “Top of the World Highway” to quirky town of Chicken. A community founded on gold mining and is one of the few surviving gold rush towns in Alaska. On a good day Chicken is home to 7 residents, a gift shop, saloon, liquor store and an outhouse. Stop in Tok. View the Trans-Alaska pipeline. Visit “Santa Claus House” at North Pole. Overnight in Fairbanks

Day 9 Jun 12 FAIRBANKS B L D Guided city tour of Fairbanks, the heart of Alaska's interior. Learn about the culture of this unique city and its beginnings in the Gold Rush era. Enjoy a family style lunch before taking a ride on the authentic sternwheeler Riverboat Discovery III along the Chena & Tanana Rivers. Witness a bush plane demonstration. Visit the home and kennels of the late four-time Iditarod winner Susan Butcher. Visit a replica Athabascan Indian Village discover traditional Native lifestyles. Watch a fish wheel in operation and see the ‘Wedding of the Rivers’. Tonight in Pioneer Park, take part in an Alaska Salmon Bake plus the number one Show throughout Alaska and Canada, Golden Heart Review. A hilarious musical comedy leaving you a bit wiser about the life in the last frontier. Overnight Fairbanks.  

Day 10 Jun 13 FAIRBANKS – ANCHORAGE AK B Spectacular scenery as you travel to Denali National Park, America’s highest peak. The Visitor Center is more of a campus and the Wilderness Center offers programs, exhibits, wildlife displays and a free film. Overnight in Anchorage

Day 11 Jun 14 ANCHORAGE B L Drive to Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center which plays host to orphaned wood Bison, black and brown bears, moose, elk, lynx, caribou and muskox. Take the Alyeska Aerial Tram scenic ride to 2,300ft in elevation and the top of Mt. Alyeska. From the Tram, you can see for miles including views of the Turnagain Arm, up to seven “hanging” glaciers, and endless peaks deep into the Chugach Mountain range. Don’t forget to look down! Moose and bear sightings are common on the aerial tram rides. You will have lunch at the top of the mountain before heading back down and continuing on your guided tour and sights of Anchorage. With Ulu factory/ fish ladder, Earthquake park, Beluga point, and more. Overnight in Anchorage

Day 12 Jun 15 ANCHORAGE B Free DAY for all! REST, shop, sightsee on own.

Savor delicious craft beer , Helicopter & Dogsled tour, Rent a bike - ride or take a walk along 11 mile Tony Knowles Coastal Trail FREE except for the bike, Heritage Museum - FREE located inside a Wells Fargo Bank branch. It is the largest private collection of Alaska Native artifacts in the state, Anchorage Market & Festival - FREE over 300 vendors. Jade jewelry to birch tree syrup. Find food vendors with salmon tortillas to Russian tea. Lake Hood - FREE the busiest floatplane runway in the world. Day 13 Jun 16 ANCHORAGE – BEAVER CREEK YT B A great travel day through Chickaloon, Glenallen and Tok. Overnight in Beaver Creek, the most westerly settlement in Canada. Spacious Restaurant, Cocktail Lounge, Gas Bar, Laundry & New Rooms featuring full Private Bathrooms and Satellite flat screen TVs. 

Day 14 Jun 17 BEAVER CREEK – SKAGWAY AK B Travel through Burwash Landing, Hanes Junction, Whitehorse and Carcross. Burwash Landing is situated on the western shore of the stunning Kluane Lake and is home to the Kluane First Nation. Haines Junction is a village in Yukon, Canada, at Kilometre 1,632 of the Alaska Highway at its junction with the Haines Highway. Overnight in Skagway

Day 15 Jun 18 SKAGWAY AK B FREE AFTERNOON Skagway is a compact city in southeast Alaska, set along the popular cruise route the Inside Passage. It's home to gold-rush-era buildings, now preserved as part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. This morning you will tour Skagway with a step on guide. This afternoon is free time for you. Rest, sightsee on own. Overnight in Skagway. 

Day 16 Jun 19 SKAGWAY to DEASE LAKE BC – B Traveling the winding road from Skagway to Dease Lake. You will enter BC, Yukon, BC, Yukon and BC again. Stop at Jade city, Mountain Jade store. Overnight Dease Lake

Day 17 Jun 20 DEASE LAKE to TERRACE BC B Heading south through Kitimat-Stikine, Meziadin Junction. Overnight Terrace BC

Day 18 Jun 21 TERRACE to PRINCE RUPERT BC B Today you will witness the North Pacific Cannery National Historic Site, formed in 1888. Trustees were given a crown grant of 183 acres for $32.00, the plant was constructed. It had almost 90 years continuous salmon production & fish processing. This afternoon tour Museum of Northern BC, experience its unique celebration of cultures and histories. Later you will have time to stroll or shop before settling in hotel for the night. Overnight in Prince Rupert BC.                   

Day 19 Jun 22 PRINCE RUPERT to HAIDA GWAII BC B Today we board a BC Ferry to cross Hecate Strait to Skidegate in the breathtaking Haida Gwaii (Islands of the People), formerly called the Queen Charlotte Islands but renamed in December 2009. Distance: 93 nautical miles, Sailing Time: 8 hours, but varies depending on sea and weather conditions. Overnight in Queen Charlotte.                   

Day 20 Jun 23 HAIDA GWAII sightseeing B Day tour with Eagle Eye Tours. You will visit Haida Heritage Center, the premier cultural centre and museum of the Haida people. Jungle Beach, where the fine sandy beach stretches out for miles in both directions. Tlell is best known for its art galleries. Pass the Naikoon Provincial Park. Take in the tranquil scenery on Rainbow Wharf, Masset. The Village of Masset is a small fishing village located on Graham Island - the largest of the more than 150 islands that comprise the archepelago of Haida Gwaii. Old Massett is one of 2 villages where the Haida Nation regrouped in the late 1800s, having been forced to leave most of their ancient villages due to declining numbers, consequence of smallpox introduced by Europeans. Overnight Queen Charlotte

Day 21 Jun 24 HAIDA GWAII to PRINCE RUPERT BC B Start later in the morning, sightsee through-out the day, stroll, shop enjoy your final hours on the island. This evening you will board the ferry and sail through the night to Prince Rupert. Overnight aboard the ferry. 

Day 22 Jun 25 PRINCE RUPERT to SMITHERS BC B Early morning arrival in Prince Rupert, a few photo stops then off to Memorial Lava Flow Bed Park Campground, Lava Flow Trailhead and picnic at Lava Lake. Stop at Kitawanga’s Gitwangak Battle Hill National Historic site. During the late-1700s and early-1800s, Battle Hill was part of a complex trading network and the site of warfare. The village was burned and abandoned in 1835. Overnight in Smithers BC

Day 23 Jun 26 SMITHERS to McBRIDE BC B Traveling through Burns Lake, Fraser Lake, time in Prince George. Stop at the Ancient Forest Trail 2.5miles if you are willing. Overnight McBride BC. 

Day 24 Jun 27 McBRIDE to ST ALBERT AB B D Spend mid - morning and lunch on own in Jasper. Afternoon stop in Edson. Windup farewell. Overnight in St Albert. 

Day 25 Jun 28 ST ALBERT to SASKATCHEWAN B Homeward bound cherishing wonderful memories of your travels.
