ITINERARY

Meals as indicated:  (B) Breakfast, (L) Lunch, (D) Dinner.

Day 1, July 28th, Tuesday. Depart Saskatoon SK – Toronto ON – overnight flight to Warsaw, Poland.

Day 2, July 29th, Wednesday.  Arrive Warsaw, Poland – fly to Lviv, Ukraine (D).  On arrival in Lviv, and after clearing Ukrainian Passport Control, we will be transferred by motor coach to our hotel located in Lviv City center for a 3-night stay.  Our Tour Manager in Ukraine will be Andriy Oliynyk who will be happy to assist us on our journey throughout Ukraine.  Early Dinner this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 3, July 30th, Thursday.  Lviv (B/L/D).  A wonderful day of sightseeing in this beautiful World Heritage Site city.  We will visit Shevchenko’s Hai, an open-air Museum, consisting of 6 small villages.  Historical St. George’s Cathedral and a visit to the unique cemetery of Lychakiv.  After a leisurely lunch we will continue our sightseeing at High Castle Hill.  We will end our day of sightseeing with a tour of the famous Lviv Opera House.  Dinner this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 4, July 31st, Friday.  Lviv (B/D).  A free day to explore this city at our own pace.  Lviv’s tram system can take you just about any place in the city center.  Maybe
visit the Chocolate Factory or Art Galleries, Lviv History Museum - Rynok 24, browse in the Markets with an array of unique souvenirs.  Lots to see and do in this enchanting city.  Maybe this evening we can enjoy a performance at the Opera House.  Will advise you of the performances when the schedule is published.  Dinner this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 5, August 1st, Saturday (B/L/D).  Lviv – Ternopil (B/L/D).  Time to say good-bye to this ancient city as we depart for the city of Ternopil.  On our way we will stop at Olesko Castle for a tour of this property.  If lunch is served that day, we will enjoy dining there.  If not, then we will enjoy lunch at another restaurant.  Continue to Ternopil for a two-night stay.  Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 6, August 2nd. Sunday.  Ternopil – Pochaiv Lavra (B/D).  This morning we will visit the ancient religious site of Pochayiv Lavra, approximately a one-hour drive from Ternopil.  This monastery has been in existence for almost five hundred years and a very interesting site to behold.  After lunch return to Ternopil where we will have some free time to enjoy this modern city which was rebuilt after WW2.  Dinner this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 7, August 3rd, Monday.  Ternopil – Zarvanytsya – Zhabokruky - Kolomyia (B/L/D).  Heading south to the City of Kolomyia we will make a brief stop at Zarvanytsya, a Catholic Religious site which has been in existence since the 13th century.  The village of Zarvanytsya has just a population of 300 but thousands of visitors come on pilgrimage each year.  A lovely spiritual place.  A picnic lunch is planned today.  After our time in Zarvanytsya we will travel south to the Village of Zhabokruky which is the Ancestral village of the Bayda family.  A short visit to this village where we will meet some of the local people who love to chat with visitors. Continue to Kolomyia for a 3-night stay.  Dinner this evening at our hotel.

Day 8, August 4th, Tuesday.  Carpathian Mountains (B/L).  Today we will be traveling in the scenic Carpathian Mountains.  Our first visit will be to an authentic Hutsul family farm, where we will be treated to homemade goodies and some of their best “moonshine” which will put a smile on your face for the rest of the day.  After our farm visit, we will take a short Jeep ride to another home where a lunch “Fit for A King” will be served.  The Musicians of the mountain will serenade us during our meal.  This wonderful day in the Carpathian Mountains will live in our memories forever.  Dinner on your own this evening.  Lots of restaurants located within walking distance of our hotel.

Day 9, August 5th, Wednesday.  Kolomyia (B/D).  The Pysanka and Hutsulshchyna Museums are within walking distance of our hotel and both will amaze you.  The Pysanka Museum has in excess of 10,000 Ukrainian Easter eggs decorated in every design imaginable.  The Hutsulshchyna Museum will show you the creative
art and crafts of this very colorful area of Ukraine.  If time permits, we may visit the large market at Kosiv which is approximately a 45-minute drive from Kolomyia.  Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 10, August 6th, Thursday.  Kolomyia – Chernivtsi (B/D).  Time to move on and our next drive to Chernivtsi is a short one, just a little over one hour.  This is a University City and has the designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  On our visit to the University we can also visit their beautiful Botanical Gardens.  A visit to the Chernivtsi Museum of Art is also planned today.  One-night stay in Chernivtsi.  Dinner at our hotel.

Day 11, August 7th, Friday.  Chernivtsi – Uman (B/L/D).  Today will be a long day of travelling as we cross two Oblasts (Provinces) on our way to the city of Uman.  Travel distance is 430 kilometers and travel time will be approximately 7 hours.  This will be a very interesting journey as we travel through the vast farmlands of Ukraine, and perhaps the hundreds of acres of sunflowers will be in bloom.  On route we will enjoy a picnic lunch.  Two-night stay in the City of Uman.  Dinner this evening at our hotel.

Day 12, August 8th, Saturday.  Uman (B/D).  Leisurely sightseeing in Uman.  A visit to the beautiful Sofiyivka Park and Arboretum.  Witness the light show at the Muzychnyy Fountains.  Visit the Markets and Bazaars.  Lots to see in the lovely city.  Dinner this evening at our hotel or a local restaurant.

Day 13, August 9th, Sunday.  Uman – Kaniv – Kiev (B/D).  A three-hour journey this morning will take us to a famous site.  This is where one of Ukraine’s most favourite Poets and Patriot Taras Shevchenko is laid to rest on “Taras Hill” in Kaniv.  We will visit this area for approximately 3 hours and then continue our two-hour journey to Kiev.  Three nights in Kiev.  Dinner at our hotel this evening.

Day 14, August 10th, Monday.  Kiev (B/D).  Our local Guide will show us the most famous sites in Kiev.  This is a city of Churches and all are steeped in history.  Some of the places we will visit will be St. Sophia’s Cathedral, the Holodomor Memorial built to honor the millions of Ukrainian people who lost their lives during the forced Genocide of 1932-33.  A visit to the Ancient Lavra and of course some free time to visit the shops and markets.  Special Farewell Dinner this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 15, August 11th, Tuesday.  Sightseeing in Kiev (B/D).  This morning we will enjoy a Cruise on Dnieper River where you will have a great view of the city.  Dinner at our hotel.  (Note: Our complete Kiev sightseeing will be finalized when I speak with our Guide in Kiev)

Day 16, August 12th, Wednesday.  Depart Kiev – Munich – Toronto – arrive Saskatoon.  Our first flight departs very early so we will have to be ready to leave our hotel to allow time to travel to the airport and check-in.

ANCESTRAL VILLAGES:

As this is a Heritage Tour, we would love for you to visit your ancestral village.  We will endeavor to arrange for visits to family villages, however you must let us know as soon as possible the name of the village and any details you may have.  If the village is on the route of the tour, we will stop at this village.  In the event the village is in a different area but within driving distance from one of the cities, arrangements may be made to take you to the village.  The cost for Private Driver & Car is approximately $150.00 (USD), but worth doing.

MEDICAL INSURANCE – To travel on this tour, it is mandatory to have out of country health insurance.

CANCELLATION INSURANCE - Is also recommended and needs to be purchased at time of deposit. Dana will assist you with this.  If you have your own medical insurance please provide policy number, company name and emergency contact number to Dana.

MANULIFE WORLD TRAVEL INSURANCE – We offer the personalized coverage, to be financially protected against cost of unexpected emergencies that could happen prior to or during your trip.  For your insurance rates call Dana at Lobstick Travel 1.800.665.0171.  Passengers may obtain insurance at their discretion.  If you decline or purchase insurance elsewhere, we require Lobstick waiver form to be signed and returned to Dana.

Over 90 days - loss of deposit.

50 days to 30 days - 35% non-refundable.

29 days to departure - 100% non-refundable.
