EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN CRUISE AND LAND TOURS FROM DUBAI TO VENICE INCLUDING THE SUEZ CANAL

We will sail the Far East with a 20 day Eastern Mediterranean sailing in The Gulf from Dubai, United Arab Emirates through the Suez Canal to Venice, Italy embarking March 27, 2017.  Prior to embarkation, we will spend 3 days in Dubai.  At the end of the cruise we will spend 3 days in Italy.  Ports of call on the Western bound cruise include Fujairah, United Arab Emirates; Muscat and Salalah, Oman; Aqaba, Jordan; Safaga and Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt; an overnight in Haifa, Israel; a stop in Iraklion, Crete, Greece; Dubrovnik, Croatia; and finally an overnight stay in Venice, Italy.

ITINERARY

23 March 2017 - Depart Canada for Dubai (D)

24 March 2017 - Arrive Dubai (B/L/D): Welcome to the Golden City of Dubai. Meet and Greet by Local Guide, then board your private motor coach for a transfer to your hotel. Welcome reception this evening.

25 March 2017 - Dubai (B/D): This morning is yours to rest up. This afternoon, discover the best of Dubai with an expert guide. Take in Dubai's top landmarks - The Burj Al-Arab, Al Bastakiya district, ride an 'abra' water taxi, visit to the Deira Spice and Gold Souk, and finish the evening with an enchanting moonlit cruise of the Dubai Creek on a 2-hour 'dhow' Arabian boat dinner cruise.

26 March 2017 - Arabian Desert (B/D): Free time this morning. This afternoon, you leave Dubai and head into the desert to meet a camel train. Take an unforgettable camel ride to a royal desert retreat in the rolling dunes. As the sun sets, enjoy an exciting falconry display, watch an Arabic bread-making demonstration and get a henna tattoo. Finish with a mouth-watering, 4-course dinner under the stars accompanied by exotic Arabian dancing and music. 

27 March 2017 - Embark on the Norwegian Star (B/D): After breakfast this morning, you will be transferred to the Port of Dubai to embark on the Norwegian Star.

28 March 2017 - Fujairah, UAE (B/L/D): Your drive takes you along the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates. A photo stop at the 300 year old Fujairah Fort and the Oasis in Bithna. You'll visit the Fujairah Museum to see displays of old weapons, traditional costumes, and artefacts. No visit to Fujairah is complete without experiencing the Friday Market. Don't let the name fool you, the market is open seven days a week from morning to night. You'll need to exercise your bargaining skills here. A final photo stop at the Al Bidiyah Mosque, the oldest in the Emirates. (Shore Excursion Included)

29 March 2017 - Muscat, Oman (B/L/D): A scenic drive takes you through the exclusive Omani residential district of Shati Al Qurum. You'll visit the Grand Mosque, the largest and most exclusive mosque in Oman, before stopping at the colourful Muttrah Souq, where the scent of exotic Arabian perfumes and spices fills the air. Continue to Bait Al Zubair, a private museum housing collections of traditional Omani items. Take a drive along Muscat's scenic coastal road, through the charming fishing village of Sidab and on to Muscat's Old Town for a great photo opportunity at the impressive Al Alam Palace. (Shore Excursion Included)

31 March 2017 - Salalah, Oman (B/L/D): Explore the diverse beauty and historical sites of Salalah during this tour that visits the Grand Mosque, Al Balid Archaeological Site and Museum and stops at Al Husn Souq. A scenic drive through Salalah and its surrounding areas exposes the contrast between the lush vegetation of the Garden City and the barren, bleak landscape of the desert. See the frankincense tree and learn how its precious resin is extracted. Your tour concludes with a visit to the Al Husn Souq. (Shore Excursion Included)

05 April 2017 - Aqaba, Jordan (B/L/D): This enlightening drive through Aqaba offers an excellent overview of one of Jordan's most strategically located historical cities. You'll drive to Aqaba's resort-dotted southern beach. Jordan's only outlet to the Red Sea. Returning to Aqaba's vibrant city centre, you will soon get a view of Aqaba fort. Your route will also pass the remains of what archaeologists believe to be the world's oldest church, a structure that dates from the late third century B.C. (Shore Excursion Included)

06 April 2017 - Safaga, Egypt (Luxor) (B/L/D): Arriving in Luxor, you'll cross the Nile River and proceed to the West Bank for a visit to the Valley of the Kings. It is here you'll find the remarkable tombs of Egypt's ancient kings, their families and other nobility. You'll enjoy a buffet style lunch at a local hotel. Stop for photos at Hatshepsut Temple and he Colossi of Memnon. You'll also visit the spectacular Luxor Temple complex. (Shore Excursion Included)

07 April 2017 - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt (B/L/D): This diverse tour allows you to explore the mangroves, the magnificent scenery of the desert and the Bedouin way of life found on the Sinai Peninsula. Travel to the Nabak National Forest where you'll see this unique ecosystem of mangroves up close. Drive on through the desert to the Nabak Museum to learn about the area's local wildlife and birds. Continue through the mountains of Wadi Kharayza, making your way to the Bedouin's camp at Wadi Mandar. (Shore Excursion Included)

08 April 2017 - Suez Canal (B/L/D): Connecting Europe and Asia, this canal through the desert challenged engineers for nearly 4,000 years. Begun in 1858, the 120 mile (193 km) passage from one sea to the other takes 11 to 16 hours.

09 April 2017 - Haifa, Israel (B/L/D): Boarding your coach at the pier, you'll enjoy a picturesque drive from Haifa to Nazareth - the place where Jesus spent his early years. You'll travel through Cana, the place Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water into wine. Then it's on to Tabgha, where he later multiplied the loaves and fishes. Following a busy morning, you'll be heading off along the panoramic seashore to the Yardenit baptismal sight where the River Jordan separates from the Sea of Galilee. On your relaxing ride back to the pier in Haifa, you'll view Mount Tabor, the traditional site of the Transfiguration where Jesus appeared to his disciples in radiant light while speaking with Moses and Elijah. (Shore Excursion Included)

10 April 2017 - Haifa, Israel (B/L/D): Today is yours. Take an optional shore excursion to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jafa, the Dead Sea, Masada or at your own pace visit the sights and sounds of the Port City of Haifa.

12 April 2017 - Iraklion, Greece (Crete) (B/L/D): Although it's on the Greek Island of Crete, Iraklion offers a wealth of Venetian architecture from their rule in the 13th century, including magnificent fortified walls. Don't miss the Minoan Palace of Knosos Knossos, immortalised in Greek Mythology by the legend of the Minotaur. Optional shore excursions available.

14 April 2017 - Dubrovnik, Croatia (B/L/D): Dubbed "the pearl of the Adriatic" by the poet Lord Byron, Dubrovnik exudes romantic charm and beautiful scenery with its shimmering marble streets, centuries-old buildings capped by bright orange roofs, and lovely beaches ensconced between awesome rocky ledges. Optional shore excursions available.

15 April 2017 - Venice, Italy (B/L/D): You could start a discussion about Venice by praising its restaurants, wine bars, marble churches or blown glass. But you probably won't. You'll likely start with the fact that Venice is build on water. It is a place where people either float slowly down palace-lined man-made waterways or stroll down narrow alleyways. There's no more extraordinary place to find yourself, or lose yourself. Optional shore excursions available.

 

 

16 April 2017 - Venice, Italy (B/L/D): An early morning departure off the Norwegian Star, a transfer to the Venice Airport, and you are on your way home with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
